My name is José Francisco Herrera a.k.a. Pako.
I’m a mexican student born and raised in Mexico City. At the age of 11, I moved to Cuernavaca, Morelos which is known for it’s awesome weather. I’ve been living in Cuernavaca since 2000.
I’m a Computer Engineering student on my last year of college.
I love blogging, reading, hanging out with my friends, meeting new people, learning new programming languages, knowing different cultures, listening to music, watching movies and foreign films, drinking coffee and traveling.
After graduating I want to start working for a big company and in a couple time start my own business: an IT company, where I can offer to my clients solutions mainly on IT’s, but also giving support on design, marketing and e-commerce.
This is my story:
Since I was young I’ve always been interested in technology, maths and science, so I think those were important factors to choose my profession, but I think I chose Computer Engineering for the next reason:
I got my first computer when I was like 12 years old, I was really excited, all my life I had a class on a computer laboratory, now I had one of my own and I would be able to play those awesome games from the 90’s my cousins used to play.
So time went by and my computer started to work slow until it reached a point in which I wasn’t able to make my homework. A friend of mine introduced me to his brother who was 2 years older than me and he was getting in the computer business, so he offered himself to fix my computer.
He scammed me, he sold me a processor and a 512MB RAM and none of them where compatible with my motherboard, so a teacher gave me a hand with my problem and at the end we bought new stuff and I helped him yo build my new computer.
So before going to high school I decided to go to college to become a Computer Engineer so I could fix computers and not being scammed again.
This sound ridiculous, but everything changed on my first year of college when I got my first programming class. I really enjoyed coding, it was my favourite subject, Idecided I didn’t wan’t to study 4 years to end up repairing computers, I wanted to code for the rest of my life.
Then I met this classmate who developed web sites, I asked him to teach me how to develop websites and he gave me two books with the basics: HTML & CSS. It was the first time i learned something by myself and wanted to continue learning more stuff related to web development.
Since then I’ve been learning to code on my own from books, blogs and a huge number of websites.
